Whimsical Abstracts in Pantone Colors for 2011

I'm usually fairly straightforward when it comes to photography--not necessarily a purist, but I do  pay close attention to light, color, texture, angle, and repeating patterns in nature. The past few days, though, I've been dabbling with some archived files, to transform a few nature photos into something fresh and new. It's been a fun creative process, nudging each photo into an abstract design.

Why turn a perfectly nice photo into something unrecognizable? Well, why not? Sometimes a touch of whimsy fuels the creative muse and adds a fun element to my Etsy shop. All the better, if the colors coordinate with Pantone's hot color choices for Spring/Summer 2011, shown above. I thought it would be fun to share some Before and After images. (Click titles for more info.)

"Circles and Squares Mosaic Print"
"Peapod Green Kaleidoscope Abstract Print"

"Honeysuckle Pink Tapestry Fine Art Print"

"Golden Windows"
I'd love to hear about creative trails you've followed, as well. For those of you who are photographers, how do you get the most mileage out of your images? Until next time...

  1. I had a hard time deciding, but I like Peapod the best. They are all beautiful, though.

I've played with photography for years now, but only as a creative outlet. The nature photos that turn out remind me of God's handy work.

Nice job, Bonnie, and God bless you.

  2. It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Having said that, then it must be possible to use a photo a thousand ways. :)

The before photos are beautiful but it is imaginative and so creative how you've transformed them into something so different and still so beautiful.
