No Place Like Home!

So we planned a week of housesitting at my brother's house near Yosemite.  Actually, it's a good forty miles from Yosemite Valley, but locals call the town the Gateway to Yosemite because the highway leads straight through the town,  to that amazing national park.  We spent two glorious days there, exploring the natural wonders. My Canon came away full and happy.

Then the snow began falling. The first night we got 16 inches, far more of the white stuff than what we're used to here in our valley.  The next day we gained another foot, plus two downed trees which knocked out electricity overnight and the next day. Just when we thought the excitement was past, we awoke to yet another surprise: a full foot of new fluffy snow! It made for some fun photo opps but also trapped us in our driveway for two more days, because overnight temps in the low 20s turned fluff into crunch.

After several hours of sunshine, we were able to shovel enough to ease out of the long driveway and head back down the mountain towards home. What fun, unique memories we made!  When we pulled into our own snow-free driveway last evening, I related to Dorothy's gushy statement to her Auntie Em: "There's no place like home!"

I almost hate to mention that our current weather forecast here at home is calling for snow for the next three days. Whaaaaaaaaaaat?

  1. Oh, Bonnie, I can't wait to see more photos. You're just like me this way, we love the nature shots.

Every photo on my blog is one of my own.

The feeling of taking them and seeing them is unexplainable.

    Glad you're safe and sound.
